RAIN, RAIN, RAIN!!! RESULT>>>DELAYS & FRUSTRATION

We had our first volunteer day on 3 May for the knob house.  The house has the foundation walls in place, about 2 feet of the outer wall was water proofed before volunteers laid down the 4” drain tile.  We are still waiting of the weather to brake so we can get some cement trucks in to pour the basement floor. We are still looking for some volunteers to help out with the jobs below and take pro active step in helping other families.  Their will be a little labor work this weekend involving applying the water proof to the rest of the outer walls. OPEN VOLUNTEER SLOTS FOR THIS WEEKEND!!! (see calander)

THE FOOTING HAS BEEN POURED10 APR 08

-- As you can see the weather has not been very nice to the foundation crew, which means more delays for volunteers to come out and swing a hammer. For now, it looks like the projected framing time/ volunteer day will be 3 May 2008.
-- Good news, the construction committee was made a great offer for the purchase of engineered silent floor joists.  Our thanks to Jennifer in commercial sales at Lowes in Warrensburg for negotiating with her venders; this will help speed up the framing process when the foundation is done.
-- Due to the delay, the construction committee is going to try and run a double shift Saturday crew once the foundation is done.  The sooner we get a roof on this house the more accurate we can be with volunteer days.
-- The construction committee is still need of experienced builders and contractors willing to volunteer their time as crew leaders please [ email ] me to set up a time for an interview.

EXCAVATION STARTED (28 March)

The SOUTHSIDE RED-E-MIX Crew has started the excavation part for the foundation.  If the weather permits the forms should be in place by Thursday 10 April and ready for cement soon after that.

FIRST VOLUNTEER BUILD DAYS DELAYED DUE TO SPRING RAIN

We are going to have to cancel the volunteer build dates (29 March and 5 April) due the recent rains that have put the foundation work about 2-weeks behind schedule.  I apologize for any inconvenience this cancellation may have caused but please keep checking back on the web site for information regarding the volunteer build schedule.  If there are any volunteers out there that have a great deal of construction experience; please drop me an [ email ], we are always looking for more construction leads for weekend and possible weekday work.

Thanks Again
